New for 2012 Ice Fishing Trips on Madison Chain January through ice out: I am excited to announce as soon as we are able to get out there I will be offering ice fishing trips on the "Madison Chain" for Northern Pike, Walleyes, Panfish, and even giant Mendota Catfish! It's no secret that Lake Mendota is home to trophy class Northern Pike with it's 40" size limit your chances at a 20 pound pike are better here than about anywhere in the state. Not to mention the world class Channel Catfish with an average fish of 8-10 pounds and fifteen fish days not uncommon, not many ice fishing experiences can rival it.

All trips include heated comfortable Frabill Ice Shacks that allow us to be mobile to stay on bite, tip-ups, Automatic Fishermans, jig rods, and bait. So all you need to do is show up with appropriate clothes, food, and of course your fishing license. The rest is up to me...and the fish a bit too. Rates are $350 for two people and $75 each additional person.

March-July for Jet Boat River Trips: Another unique experience I offer is Jet-Boat trips on the Wisconsin River where you get to fish were not many people can get to! My 16' jet drive only needs about 3" of water to run so it opens up a whole new world of fishing for Smallmouth, Largemouth, Northern Pike, Walleyes, Catfish, and even Muskies. Truly a wonderful experience that allows you to get away from the crowds and really enjoy yourself.

March-April: Walleye and Northern Pike: Locally the Wisconsin River offers some early season opportunities for walleyes and Northern Pike which start as soon as the ice is out. My 16 Jet Boat allows us to reach stretches of river that don't see much pressure. Great time to get the first bend in the rod.

Also available is trophy Walleye fishing on the Bay of Green Bay and the Fox River. Fish over fourteen pounds are available here by jigging, casting, and trolling. Numbers and size make this fishery one of the best in the country!

Another option I offer is Walleye fishing on the Wisconsin River and Lake Wisconsin. Whether we are casting, jigging, or trolling there is no lack of fish in this system.

May: This month brings many opportunities for fishing in Wisconsin after the season opener. First three weeks of May I spend guiding Lakes Mendota, Monona, Waubesa, Wingra, and Kegonsa of the "Madison Chain". Target species now are Smallmouth, Largemouth, Walleyes, Catfish, and Panfish.

Late May-mid July: Starting Memorial Day weekend I shift my fishing to primarily muskies. I split my time between the "Madison Chain" and Green Bay muskies. Madison waters provide an outstanding muskie fishery with four fish days common, great topwater bite, and many fish in the 40”-48” range. Green Bay offers endless opportunities of monster fish that can be caught casting and trolling.

Mid July-mid September: Once the trophy muskie waters of Central and Northern Minnesota warm up enough to get them going… it's off I go to guide the waters of Lake Mille Lacs, Lake Vermilion, Lake Bemidji, and a few others. If it's giant muskies you want? Then you have to come try these waters. Over the past five seasons we have had over 100 fish over 50”! Not to mention dozens of which have been over forty pounds. Which body of water I’m on depends on the bite.

Mid September-early October: Sometimes tough to leave Minnesota, I head back to my home waters of the "Madison Chain" for the one best muskie bites of the season. This pre-turnover bite can be fast and furious. Shallow casting topwaters and bucktails excels now. Some of the biggest fish of the season are taken at this time.

October-mid November: It's back to Minnesota to chase the state record muskie on the waters of Mille Lacs and Lake Vermilion. The record of 54 lbs is sure to fall at any time… and it most likely will be from one of these two lakes. In last five years we have made muskie history by catching crazy numbers of forty pound plus fish, not to mention several over fifty pounds. You will be casting at some of the biggest fish available anywhere. So come catch the fish of many lifetimes!

Mid November-December: Once the Minnesota prime time late fall bite has passed, it's back home again on the Mad Chain where we now have an extended muskie season which runs through the month of December. This late season bite has accounted for some of the biggest fish of the year along with some great numbers. As long as there is a boat ramp open, I am open for business!
